The adjustability of the power (dosage) and pulsing allows laser therapy to be applied to a broad range of clinical applications for pain management, wound healing, reducing inflammation/swelling/edema, rehabilitation, and intrathoracic/intra-abdominal conditions across all species. Measurable positive results can be seen consistently in the following list of conditions:
What is Laser Therapy?
Class IV laser therapy with the Summus Medical Laser delivers specific red and near infrared wavelengths of laser light to induce a therapeutic effect within the body. These include increased circulation, decreased swelling, reduction of pain and enhanced tissue repair. Laser therapy has been used in Europe since the 1970s and was cleared by the United States Food and Drug AdminiStration in 2002.
Laser Therapy is often used with other forms of treatment, including physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, soft tissue mobilization, electrotherapy and even following surgery. Other healing modalities are complementary and can be used with laser to increase the effectiveness of the treatment.
There are thousands of published scientific studies demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of laser therapy.
Among these, there are more than one hundred rigorously controlled, scientific studies that document the effectiveness of laser for many clinical conditions.
During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces
inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved. During laser therapy the infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level, and metabolic activity increases within the cell, improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane. This initiates the increased production of cellular energy (ATP) that leads to a cascade of beneficial effects, increasing cellular function and health.
